Not long after the Kindle 2 came out, Amazon talked about a new updated version that they wanted to release that would be bigger in both screen size and storage capacity – not too long after that the Kindle DX was released.
This Kindle, which had many similar technology features as the Kindle 2 was now able to hold up to 3,500 books, fully supported PDF files without having to get them converted and had a much larger screen size that was easier to read for many people.
The screen size makes the whole experience more ‘book like’ because you can get more of the page on the screen and is much sharper and crisper than the Kindle 2.
Screen rotation is another feature that was incorporated that has received great reviews from people who liked the ability to turn the Kindle DX to the side for easier reading of certain texts (such as poetry which was always hard to read properly on the Kindle 2 because it cut the lines over to the following page disrupting the flow of reading).
If you are a serious reader then the extra cost is worth it for the better experience.
